Western Sportsman April 1940
Article written by Elmer Keith, about my Great Grandparents Gammon Gregg Nesbitt, Jr, and his wife Sunshine Johnson Nesbitt. Gammon and Shine spent quite a bit of time in Salmon, ID hunting and fishing when not in Shreveport, LA where they lived. They were great friends with the author, Elmer Keith. He wrote several articles about their hunts and also has a story of Shine on a bear hunt in one of his books. I never got to meet them but have lots of stories ,hunting journals and pictures from their travels. I was given the gun, by my Uncle, that is shown in the pictures in this article. It is a Winchester .270 bolt action that was made in 1931. The gun was picked out and recommended by a man named Jack O'Connor, who was also a very good friend of Gammon and Shine.
